This is one of the Creed releases that gets mixed reviews, and poor formulations/batches throughout the years could be at play here. I got a recent sample of it and I have to say, this wasn’t to my taste and not quite what I expected.
In particular, the tobacco vibe that I was expecting (perhaps unfairly), felt almost none existent on my skin. Instead, a much fresher, greener, aromatic direction ruled most of the wear.
Tabarome felt like a traditional, gentlemanly, classy, men’s cologne, with citrus, greens, woods, but I detected none of the smokiness. Nor did I particularly like the textures or ‘quality’ as I perceived it. Not that it was bad per se, but especially after recently falling in love with Creed Jasmin Imperatrice Eugenie, I was hoping for more magic in terms of quality and luxury here. Instead, Tabarome felt okay, but slightly underwhelming, as has been my experience with most of the Creed collection in years prior.
The scent profile may be classy, but it wears like any conventional modern perfume and it’s thin and airy. This reminded me more of Creed’s Viking for example, than your average tobacco fragrance. There’s a shower gel hint in here that I’m not a fan of, but it does pull the scent more into modern times versus the greener side.
Overall, not a noteworthy sampling experience.
