‘Ephemeral Yet Unforgettable. Inspired by the delicate beauty of the Soap Bubble Nebula, known for its spherical, iridescent appearance, SOAP BUBBLE embodies an airy, almost transparent yet undeniably present scent that blends purity with playful elegance. Sparkling aldehydes meet creamy, fruity, and musky notes, creating a modern interpretation of freshness. A fragrance for those who love minimalism with character‘. – Ylem Parfums
I was happy to test the pre-release samples of Eastern Veil, Eye Of God & Soap Bubble; a trio of fragrance that YLEM is launching with in 2025. Soap Bubble is quite the quirky outlier, whereas the other two are closer to each other and feel more serious.
I’ve smelled a combination of sweet and soapy before, but rarely with this strong of a juxtaposition. It’s quite gourmand to me, with hints of chocolate dusting, yet simultaneously, there’s a distinct soapiness.
It’s not the sharp, bright aldehydic soapiness, which I think could’ve clashed with the sweetness. Instead, it’s a subtle, smooth, lactonic soap from a handsoap, lotion or perhaps a body milk type of product.
Especially after the opening, it starts to remind me of those soaps or lotion with creamy, milky and sweet notes that you often see from big brands like Dove, such as almond, coconut, macadamia etc. I use those occasionally as they are very pleasant and the same is true for Soap Bubble. It conveys the softness and creaminess of that style really well in perfume form.
Definitely the lightest of the set in my first time wearing, with a drydown that was hard to detect after a while, especially next to Eastern Veil and Eye of God, which are both much stronger scent profiles. A fun one, the most pleasant one to wear from start to finish and on first impression it’s up for debate whether this or Eastern Veil is my favorite.
