‘In the heart of Thailand, on winding roads through the land of smiles, our olfactory adventure begins. A vibrant road trip leads us to discover the sensory treasure that will give life to Pannaco Tahaa fragrance. In Bangkok’s bustling market, the Mahachanok mango offers itself to us, an exquisite fruit promising a sweet elixir that evokes the vibrant colors of local stalls.’ – Fomowa
Pannaco Tahaa – Curd Mango Mahachanok is the full name of Fomowa’s first release (although the same people are behind the excellent Lorga brand and perfumer Sarah Burri also did my favorite Lorga’s, especially Ambre Platine).
In short; this may be my favorite mango fragrance. There have been many in recent years and they are always enjoyable, but they often are too sweet for me and my preference goes to ‘the simplest’ fruity variation of it. Here, you get a niche scent profile; unique, a bit different from the rest of the pack and it works out really well.
Still very sweet, with the vanilla, tonka bean and pannacotta accord, but what I love most about Pannaco Tahaa, is that the mango itself is sharp, fresh, a bit green, a bit floral maybe even. I’m reminded of the fruity-with-a-twist vibe from lemongrass when I smell this fragrance. It’s juicy, it’s delicious, but it’s well balanced, both in the sweetness and the muskiness. It’s more complex than another recent great mango, Loumari Porthole and it’s not as cloying or musky as any Xerjoff Erba Pura relatives, such as Stephane Humbert Lucas God Of Fire, nor as powdery and removed from mango as Mango Kiss. It’s probably my favorite balance of mango so far and definitely the most intriguing, without sacrificing the mango essence.
