‘In immersion, the decor is different. We enter it the way we dive into the world of dreams, the balances are different. The body feels enveloped in it, closely embraced by the crystalline liquid, whose intense blue filters the light and whose singular thickness gives the noise a dull echo and almost palpable waves. The experience is breathtaking, the sensations breathtaking. In the attraction of depth, we abandon ourselves, we almost forget ourselves. But since evolution is in apnea, it is a question of appreciating it. Instinct guides you upwards, it is innate. After evanescence, there is a return to the surface, like a rebirth, it is then to live there a rediscovered virginity, that of the senses. This breath of air is so invigorating, the feeling of the sea air and the burning sun on the skin so invigorating. The moment is enjoyable, explosive. Let PORTHOLE offer you this escape, this olfactory paroxysm. PORTHOLE is a colorful perfume, its iodized notes will make you take off and feel the spray of the waves. Exoticism is at the rendezvous, to be found in the fruity and tangy fragrances of pineapple and a fruit called passion. Resolutely summery, sunny, warm, PORTHOLE is finally suave and greedy, with caramelized notes. He’s there, just on the other side of the window.’ – Loumari
The best thing about Porthole is the passionfruit, that is very prominent from the opening. Rich, juicy, almost creamy, passionfruit (and other fruit) dominate the opening. Not dissimilar in style and overall vibe to the opening of Stephane Humbert Lucas’ popular God Of Fire, but less ‘Erba Pura‘-esque.
This is one of the better fruity fragrances that I’ve tried in a while. I usually find fruity notes this vibrant cloying; I prefer the more watery and transparent ones, like Louis Vuitton Pacific Chill, over the thick and juicy sweeter ones. This just stays on the right side of the balance for me and I prefer it over pretty much any scent with some Erba Pura DNA in it.
It is also seriously tropical, really getting passionfruit, mango from it, with some fresher tones alongside it. Does it still get sweet and do I wish it remained a bit more subtle and light? Yes, but not to the point where it takes away the enjoyment. I think it reigns it in slightly better than New Notes Cocktail Maracuja. I could see a lot of people loving Porthole and rightfully so. For me, it’s one of the best scents in this style, although I have a preference for the less conventional Fomowa Pannaco Tahaa.
