‘Christian Dior loved and thus surrounded himself with women. When he arrived in Paris, he met the woman who would later become both his muse and advisor: Mitzah Bricard, an extremely sensual woman, with a divinely chic allure and captivating presence. Francois Demachy has paid tribute to this lady, by creating a fragrance that bears her name: a mysterious, captivating spicy oriental perfume.’ – Dior
I’d sampled and reviewed Mitzah in 2022. Two years later, I stole my brother‘s bottle of it to try it again and revise my thoughts.
I liked it back then and I still like it equally now. I think the main difference is that I felt more emphasis on the sweetness (I mentioned a white chocolate type of sweetness in the original review), that I get much less of now, while the spices jump out even more this time around.
It is sweet, but I don’t get chocolate anymore. I get mostly a honeyed woodiness and incense. Instead, the spices (coriander and cardamom are listed) are very forward in the opening hour to me. Cinnamon as well throughout, which I did note as growing ever more prominent.
For me this wears quite woody and the fragrance that Mitzah remined me of, a couple of hours into the wear, is Atelier des Ors Iris Fauve (or the similar Musc Immortelle). Sweet, honeyed wood shavings.
I’d lie if I said I smelled rose. It’s mostly sweet, spicy and woody. I still think Mitzah is sort of overshadowed by Feve Delicieuse these days, but I slightly prefer Mitzah. Unfortunately, discontinued (at least it seems to be as of 2024; I don’t think I’ve seen bottles available since early 2022).
