After wearing and falling in love with both White & Papilio, Puredistance I had a tall order. I can’t say I like as much, but it’s still an amazing scent for this style.
Whereas White has a perfect mariage of fresh muskiness, rose and a sweeter soft sandalwood for me, Puredistance I doubles down on the musk and florals. Perhaps the name ‘White’ would be even more fitting here.
Very bright, clean and laundry-detergent-esque with white musks and soapy neroli. The florals here mostly remind me of rosewater and mimosa. Neroli may at times be overpowering the other flowers in this composition for me, but when smelled up close I get a beautiful oily citrussy rose.
There’s a tinge of the citrus throughout the opening and mid of the wear. I saw someone mention saltiness and I can picture that as well. While not nearly as sweet as the sun-tan lotion floral Moresque Regina and even more subtle than Amouage Honour 43, it has traces of that sea breeze green/white floral. For me personally, easier to wear.
While there is an ambery drydown to some extent and it warms up; don’t expect it to do a complete 180. Maybe it’s because I wore it side by side with the almost honey-sweet White drydown, but for me Puredistance I remained on the bright and clean side throughout. But not ‘fresh’ per se, as it dries down quite cozy; like creamy green flower petals.
I absolutely adore the scent of PureDistance I when smelling my skin up close. In the air; it’s a tad lighter, greener and fresher than I would ideally see, making White my preference when wearing the two side by side. Either way, a beautiful subtle and mature floral scent.
