‘Burberry’s Her eau de parfum is a bold, sensual scent that builds upon the profile of its predecessor. Like others from the range, it’s designed for those who find excitement in the unknown and refuse to be held back by boundaries. This is communicated through a collection of fruity gourmand notes that include cherry and amber accord.’ – Harrods

Her Parfum should be a poster child for not reviewing fragrances after smelling them for only a few minutes (or on paper).

To get it out of the way: The only Burberry Her that I’ve tried (I think) is Her Intense (2024), which seems like a much much lighter and fluffier fragrance than Her Parfum. I have not smelled the original and much-praised  Her Intense (2019). Some people say Her Parfum is similar, many say it falls significantly short. I’ll have to judge it on its own merit.

Which boils down to; impressive opening… 30 minutes or so. Darker than I expected. More like a berry tea or cherry tobacco than just cherries. Not too sharp or vibrant, but on the serious side, kind of in the same vein as a Creed Queen Of Silk.

There is a small medicinal tinge to my nose; like a cough syrup, which sometimes comes with cherry or blackcurrant scents, but it’s not off-putting.

There’s a healthy dose of vanillic, but airy vanillic, sweetness underneath. That initially sets of smelling as vanilla. It has a strong molecular-airy feeling once the opening settles and the cherry scent starts to vanish (ethyal maltol, iso-e-super).

What is unfortunately off-putting for my taste, is most of the drydown. That vanilla starts to morph into a mix of designer-white floral bubblegum and Baccarat Rouge 540. With the later hours of the wear smelling like the relentless dry sugary sweetness of Baccarat quite strongly. I was also reminded of the base of Amouage Love Delight.

Overall, not bad and I can see the appeal (especially for the Intense if that was indeed a better rendition of a similar scent). However, too sugary, too Baccarat, which is and will likely always be an allergy for me, so I ended up being borderline annoyed by it, despite liking the opening.
