‘Casting a hypnotic spell over all who encounter it, Queen of Silk emerges as a captivating new women’s perfume from Creed fragrances. Mirroring the coveted elegance of silk, this Eau de parfum delicately embraces the skin with a gossamer-like touch, leaving an enchanted aura that shimmers with luminous vibrancy. Inspired by the distant lands through which this precious fabric once journeyed, Creed’s Queen of Silk weaves together exotic whispers of Chinese osmanthus, decadent tuberose, and ethereal Javanese patchouli that dance seductively with cedar, agarwood, and the smoldering softness of Madagascan vanilla in a lingering, sensual testament to timeless refinement.’ – Bergdorf Goodman

Dare I say, the most interesting Creed release in a long time? There is something about it that keeps me from fully loving it, but I think there is a lot to love here and it is definitely not a generic or typical scent, which is a bonus. It is especially, not what I expected from a fragrance with this name and visuals; it’s much sweeter and heavier.

An interesting mix of floral and sweet lactonic facets in the opening. I get a distinct sweetened, rice milk scent here, which slowly gets overtaken by a darker, suede-saffron edge that you also get from coumarin/tonka bean.

The saffron adds a plasticy touch and Queen of Silk is neither natural, nor ‘silky’ in my opinion, but it makes for an intriguing scent. Especially in combination with the sort of muted, mature fruity floral side of this fragrance. Not a juicy, full-blown passionfruit or even a real peachiness from osmanthus, but a subdued hint of mostly the latter. Overpowered a bit more than I would like to see by the sweetness and saffron, but it adds a welcome brighter note.

I kept thinking about what the drydown reminds me of. And then it hit me, and I don’t think I’ve heard the comparison yet, so I may be off here. To my nose, there’s a clear hint of Argos Triumph Of Bacchus in Queen of Silk; albeit that the Creed is more feminine leaning, more floral and brighter; I couldn’t shake the comparison once I smelled it.

This release gets a thumbs up for me.
