‘Baccarat Rouge 540 eau de parfum is born from the encounter between Maison Francis Kurkdjian and Baccarat to celebrate the crystal manufacturer’s 250th birthday. The woody scent releases a poetic alchemy, a highly condensed and graphic olfactory signature. Breezy jasmine facets, radiant saffron boost the ambergris mineral notes and the woody tones of freshly-cut cedar. Bright and sleek, Baccarat Rouge 540 eau de parfum caresses the skin like an amber and woody floral whisper.’ – MFK

Baccarat Rouge opens with a floral, sugary blast. I definitely get the cotton candy-like sweetness that I’ve heard about. I don’t get a lot of orange or citrus, it is overpowered by the sugar. I also smell a hint of mint for a while.
On my first wear, I didn’t notice a lot of development, it remained pretty straightforward, with sweetness leading the way. Although I enjoyed the scent, it’s too sweet for my liking. I would rather smell this on a woman I think, however the scent profile is so overdone that I’ve started to ‘resent’ it a little bit (edit: by 2023, I pretty much can’t stand this DNA anymore).
The longevity is great, even though many wearers go noseblind to it themselves; your surrounding will definitely notice you.
