Part of the 2025 Slavic Myths collections (Moko, Mora & Veles).

I was very pleasantly surprised by Goat & Bear, but this collection of Moko, Mora & Veles is unfortunately pretty much unwearable to me. If you’re into daring niche, it may appeal to your taste more. Veles is the one of the 3 that I could see myself wearing the most; despite being the darkest and roughest.

This is instantly sweet, burning/smoky and woody. No relief whatsover from the ginger or other brightness, but relentless dry burnt woods and smoky charcoal.

Up close, I sense some hint of acidity, but in a green, tree sappy, vetiver way. This is a minor component, as the harsh smoky sweetness takes over the whole space. It’s not as barbecue-y as the opening of Hiram Green Hyde or Beaufort London Vi Et Armis, but it’s not easy going by any means and likely appeals to the same crowd as those.

The drydown feels very amberwoody. Rough, harsh, almost nutty, charred woods, with a lot of sweetness.

For me, too much to consider wearing regularly.
