‘All grown up, and seductively refined. Vanilla Haze just got louder. This XDP is the after-hours version of the EDP. It is stronger, bolder and unapologetically intense. Think late nights, locked eyes, and a hint of mischief in the air. It kicks off with a sharp twist of lemon, wrapped in toasted hazelnut and coconut milk that make it creamy, zesty and irresistible. Things get warmer when smooth vanilla meets smoky tonka, clove, and the sensuality of cashmeran. It all melts down to a base that lingers like a saffron, caramel, musky skin with a final touch of bourbon-laced vanilla. This isn’t your typical vanilla. It’s spiked, smoked, and turned all the way up. It’s for those who lean into the night, who like a little danger with their elegance. It’s made for you.’ – Fugazzi
Vanilla Haze EDP was never worth the hype for me, but I don’t think this Extrait is an improvement. The EDP being a very safe, generic milky vanilla for which there were better options, but ultimately a fine, pleasant fragrance. The Extraits aims to step it up, but ends up a harsh mess.
From the first moment, I get a more spicy, Christmassy take on the EDP. Less full-on milky vanilla, more marzipan and even more sugar. At times I get a almost bready, pastry quality from it as well.
Initially there’s a creamy, chewy, marshmallowy texture, but in the drydown, it completely falls apart. Turning into a grating, screechy amber woody and bitter spicy woodiness.
Not as generic as the EDP, but still a clear downgrade for my taste.
