I have to be honest and say that in my (admittedly limited) experience with Simone Andreoli, I’d not found any to be to my taste. Tulum Junglescape won’t make my wishlist, but it’s my favorite from the ones that I’ve smelled from the brand so far.

Instantly fruity, green, punchy and vibrant. I really wanted to like this and I do like that the fruits are not too saturated and juvenile, as I’ve found with some of the other fragrances from the house. The combination of green fruit and saltiness is quite reminiscent of one of my favorite Summer fragrances, Strangers Parfumerie Salted Green Mango. It’s actually a bit more muted and less ‘in-your-face’ than the Strangers, so for the most part, I enjoy what I’m getting up to this point.

There is a cannabis-like tinge for a moment that I’m not a fan of, but that’s very fleeting (and probably just in my head). What surprised me in Tulum Junglescape is the seemingly overdose of white musk as it dries down. After mere minutes, a dominant ‘white linen’, fresh laundry vibe overtakes this fragrance to me and is as present as any of the themes from the notes and brand description. I’ve not seen any mention of this in other reviews so far, but to me, it felt like a surprising deviation from what I expected. I can see the laundry vibe that I get being ‘aquatic’, which makes more sense, but it feels a tad unbalanced.

The fruitiness is understated, the sweetness builds slowly and is tamed enough, the booziness that others remarked on is there for seconds on my skin. It’s the (very synthetic smelling) laundry detergent that persists throughout. Not that there’s anything wrong with clean musky scents and there’s enough acidity and fruitiness left to not keep it within reach of the fragrance’s concept I guess. But I wonder if this is something others will experience as I did.

Overall, not bad at all, but I’m not sold on the perceived quality or the way wearing a Simone Andreoli feels for me. Despite this scent profile being more to my taste than I anticipated, it’s not doing much for me. I could happily wear this and the price point is attractive, but with options like Salted Green Mango on the market, it pales in comparison.
