It may come as a shock to you, but I think this smells like salt… and green fruit. Yet, it’s not quite how you might be picturing it, if you haven’t tried it yourself. I tend to stay away from really fruity fragrances, as most are too vibrant, too cloyingly fruity and end up smelling like highly artificial smelling fruit smoothies or cocktails. In this case of Salted Green Mango, it’s the perfect combination of an actual fruity scent, but it’s not too pungent. As if all the fruits used as unripe or coming out of a fridge.
More importantly, it doesn’t get too sweet. The green mango doesn’t have the sweetness from the mangos that are available where I live. Combined with lime, pomelo, pineapple, guava and more fruits listed, it’s a juicy affair, with only a bit of sweetness from the pineapple.
That fruitiness is instantly contrasted by saltiness. Which, to my world-foreign palate, is an unusual combination, yet it works wonders. I have not smelled saltiness like this in a fragrance before. I want to say it smells like the sea breeze (it has seaweed listed as well); but it does not smell like the ‘salty skin’ accords you often see in perfumes (which tend to go warmer and sweeter). Nor does it smell really aquatic; my favorite salty fragrance is Xerjoff 40 Knots and that has a very different vibe. Salted Green Mango more so smells like wet salty rock pebbles at a beach, than salty skin.
Overall it’s quite acidic, quite green, with vetiver coming through in the drydown and quite substantial. For a hot-weather fragrance (which is absolutely where this shines), it has a nice density and it performs pretty well. I highly suggest getting your nose on this if you’re looking for one of the most unique warm weather gems.
