‘I envisioned Tonka Latte as an instantly inviting, deeply comforting and gratifying gourmand fragrance, inspired by one of my everyday pleasures. Before going to the Dusita boutique each morning, I love to indulge in a hot, milky beverage and a flaky, buttery croissant at one of the cafés of the Saint-Honoré area. Tonka Latte reflects that daily ritual of heart-warming coziness and pure enjoyment. The fragrance ultimately celebrates finding happiness in life’s small pleasures.’ – Pissara Umavijani

      TONKA LATTE (2025) • DUSITA🔺, ScentAdvice

Is Tonka Latte the most spectacular, unique gourmand? No. Is it the most intriguing or complex Dusita? No. Is it exactly what Dusita needed in their collection right now? I think so.

I’ve always appreciated the brand, but Pelagos was not for me and La Rhapsodie Noire was a bit of a let down when it comes to being a gourmand. And I know for a fact that I was not the only one that had different expectations for La Rhapsodie Noire, as it was pitched beforehand as a true gourmand, but ended up smelling like a semi gourmand with a non-gourmand opening. Enter Tonka Latte to fill the gap.

On paper, this smelled like straight up tonka bean. That sweet, but almost soapy, balmy quality. Nutty, but clean. After wearing it on skin, I find it to get more caramelized quickly. Still nutty, a tad powdery and dry, but with more of a thick caramel drizzle and pretty much none of the soapiness from tonka bean. Tonka Latte smells like biscuits to me more than anything; not quite milky or creamy in texture, but it wears nicely. Maybe with a hint of peanut butter.

I’d say one of the strengths here is that it doesn’t devolve into pure sugar or something completely different. It remains dedicated to this proper gourmand scent from start to finish. It at the very least rivals some of the better options on the market; I think I’d prefer it over D’Orsay Tonka Hysteria for example.

Tonka Latte is here to deliver the full-on gourmand that at least a part of the Dusita wearers have been waiting for. Of course, it follows the massive gourmand trend of recent years, so by now, you come to expect almost any brand to have gone in this direction (I do hope that Dusita returns to a proper floral-heavy scent after this again though). And unlike Rhapsodie Noire, Tonka Latte does it unabashedly so. This is an ‘on the nose’, straight-forward smelling gourmand. Linear and unsurprising, but very pleasant and without falling apart in the drydown like many alternatives do. I feel like there’s not much of interest to say about it, but it’s a great option if you want to smell caramelized all day long.
