Sun Song is a very pleasant fragrance, but in my opinion lacking of character. It’s nice, but it comes across too simplistic, too safe, especially considering its price. Now, this is essentially the case for the entire fresher side of the Louis Vuitton line, which feels very much utilitarian and admittedly, I was not a fan of it at all initially. Over time, I’ve grown to appreciate the simple, versatile, well-constructed LV freshies more and more. That being said, Sun Song has received a boost in hype when it was discontinued (in 2022), and I don’t feel its hype is all that warranted (it has made a comeback as Sun Song (2025), but I’d rather see a Cactus Garden make a comeback personally).
Whereas the more popular Afternoon Swim has a bit more body and sweetness and the even more-more popular Imagination feels more clean and mature, this is a pure lemony, brighter typical Summery scent. You can not expect this style to be much more or longer lasting, so the performance is okay, but also not a reason to pull out your wallet for it’s price point. As I found most of the Louis Vuitton releases lacking in originality and/or wow-factor, Sun Song, pretty as it may be, perhaps embodies that sentiment the most for me.
Edit: You can read my review for the 2025 version, which is significantly different, based on my memory.
