‘Sound of a Ricochet is a woody and gourmet fragrance with notes of Sandalwood oil, Vanilla extract and Tonka Bean absolute, which evolves on the skin like a soft wave. Inspiration: The red dragonfly under a burning sky that appears in the haiku of the perfume, is reflected in a golden ricochets mirror. The trace of perfect circles on the surface of water, that seem so pure and delicate, symbolize the structure of the composition.’ – Floraiku

Sound Of A Ricochet has officially listed notes of vanilla, tonka and sandalwood (Floraiku, always lists only 3 notes). What I get instantly is a resinous amber accord.

It’s spicy in the opening and leans close towards Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Grand Soir. There’s a smokiness to the sweetness as well and overall it feels more powdery than for example Grand Soir. In the drydown, I don’t think it changes all that much; it loses some of the spice and smoke and becomes a pleasant, albeit not special, tonka and vanilla scent.

It’s easily the best performing fragrance that I’ve tried from Floraiku, but it comes at a price. To my nose, it doesn’t feel as refined and I could never wholeheartedly recommend this over most other amber, tonka and/or vanilla fragrances, most being much cheaper to boot. I enjoy it, but I don’t see the value for money in the originality, the scent, the quality or even the performance if I’m being honest.
