‘For Albert Fouquet, September in Burgundy was a time of harmony and inspiration. He returned to his family’s château to personally oversee the grape harvest, a season that began with peaceful mornings overlooking the vineyards and ended with the bustling energy of the harvest. Every day was filled with rituals, from berry tasting to long walks in the serene countryside, all while crafting his next olfactory masterpiece. “Sérénité en Bourgogne” captures the tranquility of these moments. A vibrant opening of Saffron and Pink Pepper blends into the warmth of Myrrh, while a rich base of Madagascar Vanilla adds a sensual gourmand touch. This fragrance is an invitation to experience the sophistication and serenity of Burgundy’s vineyards.’ – Eight & Bob

Serenite En Bourgogne is easily my favorite of the 2025 Eight & Bob additions. I also liked the ‘other sweet’ one, Il Giardino Dell’Anima, but I think Serenite is a lot more interesting; whereas the other two, Le Trou 19 Du Phare & Le Pari D’Honfleur didn’t do much for me.

Serenite En Bourgogne smelled a lot more fruity to me upon first impression in-store, but the sample I wore feels very gourmand. The notes sort of paint this picture of a warm, sweet, gourmand-leaning scent, but based on the descriptions, I’d expect a brighter, livelier opening.

Instead, I mostly get vanilla and what registers as white chocolate powder to my nose, from the very first minute. It has some of that band-aid-like, YSL Babycat-style vanilla vibes, although not as strongly. Instead, it borders more on the gourmand; like subtle, soft, slightly powdery vanilla in the style of a Dior Bois D’Argent, with a fruitier side to it.

I perceive an airy, berry-like fruitiness; like a grape or raspberry. I’ve seen white chocolate and raspberry combinations in deserts or milkshakes before, and that’s kind of what this reminds me of.

As it dries down further, it loses some of the airy, more subtle side and becomes a more lactonic, condensed milk sweetness that I found a tad cloying. Yet, overall, this was a big thumbs up for me and my favorite Eight & Bob after The Original.
