‘This fragrance is a sharp, thorny rose chypre. Not ambery, not powdery, just a very intense chypre base with a lot of oakmoss, labdanum and tart citrus top notes. These dark roses are NOT sweet, nor pretty. This may well be – dare I say it – a boysy/tough gal floral. Tuberose, night-blooming jasmine and several varieties of roses are utterly entangled and the scent trail is dry, crisp and cool. It has claws. Not a plush rose, not an Arab-styled mukhallat, there’s no oud in here. All you’ll find is a hidden bower of deeply dark, thorny roses scrambling through an Autumnal wild forest of muted light and deep gloom. Brewing and bubbling and sulking in the shadows.’ – TRNP
