‘Praline in Maple Vintage 25 is the evolution of one of our most beloved gourmand fragrances. Like all Scents of Wood creations, it begins not with the perfume itself, but with the barrel that shapes the alcohol at its core. The original Praline in Maple was born from a rare American oak barrel that first aged bourbon for eight years before being used in Canada to mature maple syrup, absorbing both spirit and sweetness along the way. When we acquired that barrel and aged our organic alcohol within it, the result was a fragrance defined by indulgent warmth, candied woods, and addictive maple richness. As Praline in Maple became one of our top five best sellers and our most celebrated gourmand, the barrel was used at a pace that made its eventual exhaustion inevitable. For Vintage 25, we sourced a new barrel with a remarkably similar history, one that carried the same dialogue between oak, bourbon, and maple syrup. As with all special barrels, no two are ever truly identical. While the ingredients remain the same, the proportions were carefully adjusted to reflect the character of this new barrel and to honor its natural expression. This new vintage reveals a deeper, more animalic side of Praline in Maple. The presence of opoponax resin becomes more pronounced, introducing a resinous warmth that feels leathery and slightly smoky, even without a leather note in the formula. This shift tempers the sweetness, moving the fragrance away from overt gourmand territory and toward something darker and more sensual. Cedarwood emerges with greater strength, adding structure, dryness, and a grounded woody backbone that anchors the composition. Spices like pink pepper, cumin seed, and cardamom add gentle tension at the opening, while smoky maple wood, Peru balsam, Indonesian patchouli, and sandalwood deepen the base with balsamic richness and lingering warmth. The result is a fragrance that feels more mature, more textured, and more enduring, with a stronger foundation and a quieter sweetness. Praline in Maple Vintage 25 also marks a first for Scents of Wood. It is the first fragrance in our collection created by two perfumers working together. Natasha Cote Mouzannar and Pascal Gaurin joined forces to interpret the new barrel and refine the balance between indulgence and depth. Their collaboration brings a nuanced complexity to this vintage, allowing the fragrance to retain the soul of the original while embracing a darker, more mysterious character. This is Praline in Maple reimagined. Less playful, more profound. A gourmand shaped by time, wood, and evolution.’ – Scents Of Wood
