‘The new fragrance expresses the word “OBORO,” which describes an ambiguous state where outlines become hazy and memories and emotions quietly blend together. Inspired by fleeting impressions and the emotional afterglow left by things that cannot be fully grasped, it depicts the beauty inherent in things that are not clearly defined. Created by perfumer Jérôme Epinette, this fragrance opens with a heart of bergamot, black pepper, and ginger, transitioning to a heart of violet leaf absolute, concrete accord, and peony, and concluding with vetiver and salted amber. It unfolds, shifting between contrasting elements, feeling light yet substantial like a thin veil on the skin, leaving a lingering impression not in words, but as a sensory trace. The campaign is based on the world of Gozo Yoshimasu, a legendary Japanese poet and artist known for his cross-disciplinary activities that fuse poetry, performance, and visual experimentation. Through the lens of photographer Yuichiro Noda and the visual expression of filmmaker Kai Ishihara, the campaign unfolds by moving between intimate portraits of Gozo Yoshimasu and dreamlike, abstract visuals. The campaign expresses the elusive beauty of Oboro through a visual language where the boundaries of poetry, memory, and scent blend together.’ – Fashionsnap (translated)
