‘The vibrant bite of grapefruit clashes with the deep sensuality of leather, an addictive push and pull between light and dark. Delicate violet and golden saffron weave through the bold richness of cashmeran and musk, leaving behind a scent that is both elegant and untamed.’ – Widian
This one surprised me a bit, given the notes & first reactions I’ve seen to it. I quite like it, but I was definitely expecting a much more leathery vibe and more ‘mature’ florals. Instead, this is a fun, sweet, fruity, floral scent that feels like it belongs in many a Sephora/Designer collection.
It’s very pretty though, delicate enough, sweet, but not cloying. I think the powdery nature that comes with violet sometimes helps with keeping things in check.
The scent is super familiar to me and I feel like I’ve smelled it multiple times in designer flankers in recent years, but I can’t put my fingers on which (I know, very helpful).
Leather and saffron seem negligble in my experience. It stays fresh, it stays somewhat fruity and citrussy. This is not a violet leather akin to Byredo Animalique or Black Saffron. It’s a lighter, women’s designer-ish take in my opinion. Perhaps a bit of a dated one, rather than the overly sweet and fruity contemporary ones.
A bit sweeter and non-descript than I’d like, but I can see many people enjoying Melogold.
