Marrakesh was, given its notes, surprisingly skanky to me… mostly in a good way.
Straight from the opening I get this slightly skanky and sourish oud-ish note, with a dirty booziness. Think Strangers Parfumerie Cigar Rum Intense, but toned down.
It settles into this sweet dry woodiness, with hints of berries to my nose. There’s no fruits listed, but I could picture berries, blackcurrant, grape in the way you can get those hints in bitter dark chocolate.
As my nose adjusts to this, more and more of the coconut sweetness comes through. The skanky accord that I mentioned as potential oud-boozy, now feels like that’s merging into leather, but not a full-on leather, it grows gourmand at the same time with the coconut and coffee.
Not for the faint of heart, but it doesn’t seem to project much, as its very dry, which helps in my opinion in this case. Arguably the best from Urbis to me after testing 7 of their fragrances.
