Amouage’s Lyric duo is great example of why gender marketing can be deceiving. Lyric Woman is a darker, more daring scent than Lyric Man and I personally like both equally.

Lyric Woman opens with a heavy rose that has an animalic, earthy facet to my nose (especially in older bottles like the one I bought). It’s slightly fresh and soapy at the same time (cardamom, ginger and ylang ylang).

With this bottle I seem to get more of the oakmoss and patchouli in the base, on top of the sweetness. It’s a bit green and definitely a bit dirty. However, none of it sticks out and it becomes a smooth resinous incense/amber sweet rose on top of sandalwood.
