‘Latte Pistachio is a luxurious and indulgent fragrance that blends the creamy warmth of a frothy latte with the rich, nutty essence of pistachio.’ – New Notes
There have been a few pistachio scents in the years leading up to Latte Pistachio and frankly, none of them wow me or do much for me… and neither does Latte Pistachio.
It’s a note that always sounds intriguing, but I don’t find it to translate well into the fragrances. In this case, you get a nice nuttiness, but that lasts for a couple of minutes, before fading away. For the remainder (which is a very long time; this fragrance stuck to my skin like it was holding on for dear life), this fragrance could be any numerous kinds of more generic fragrances without pistachio coming to mind for me.
Again, this is my experience with pretty much any pistachio release, so maybe it’s just personal. What I will say is that Latte Pistachio is not what I expected it to be. The ‘latte’ series from New Notes has been good, with Latte di Cherry being arguably my favorite cherry scent in recent years and I also really enjoy Latte Mimosa. I would expect Latte Pistachio to be the most creamy gourmand version of this style, but that wasn’t my experience for all of the wear.
After the nuttier opening, I get a surprisingly fresher and cleaner greenish sandalwood vibe that is as close to Le Labo Santal 33 or Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa-esque fragrances than to a gourmand. For a couple of hours, there is a sweetness, but it’s airy and sugary, and it’s mixed with fresher green tinges that do not work in tandem for my taste.
This is temporary, because as it dries down further, you get much more of the vanillic sweetness taking over, mixed with the woodiness settling and losing most of the greener and fresher hints, making for a much nicer, albeit generic fragrance in the latter hours.
Overall, not too bad, but definitely not one of my favorites from this brand either.
