La Musique de Christie was released alongside Le Geste D’Emond, and while the latter is perhaps easier to love, La Musique de Christie is much more interesting.
This is the more mature, but also more subtle scent of the duo, which may not be evident by the notes. I find La Musique de Christie very minimal, stoic, cold for its scent profile, which creates a lot of intrigue.
Whereas Le Geste D’Emond lacked in originality, this one does not smell like the saffron-leather or patchouli scents I know from the start. It slowly builds up to it. It smells dry, airy, like cold churchy incense. To me it paints a picture of brittle, dusty rocks and a large open space, like a church or cathedral.
There’s the tiniest hint of warmth coming through. More the hay-like saffron strands than pure leather. Clean and zen-like, not rough or overbearing as leathers can often be. As it gears towards the drydown, it becomes more and more of a leather fragrance on my skin, but executed pretty well. While it gets more full-bodied, it remains somewhat of a lighter, transparent take on this scent profile.
