La Geste D’Edmond was released alongside La Musique De Christie, and La Geste is likely to be the most popular, but also least original of the duo.
La Geste D’Edmond is a huge cinnamon/clove/vanilla/tonka bomb as the notes suggest. Instantly, this reminded me of fragrances as Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and a hint of Zaharoff Signature Tabac.
The big difference being that La Geste D’Edmond doubles, no, triples down on the cinnamon and clove. Super vibrant and saturated, a little bit smothering. Of course, in the air (as you would mostly smell a fragrance) it’s not really an issue, but when smelled up close, there’s almost no room to breathe within this composition. If I’m being honest, it reminds me most of ‘clones’ of Tobacco Vanille.
The vanilla scent in here is beautiful, but it’s completely dominated by the spices and even by the scent of coumarin/tonka. Ginger being listed as the sole ‘brighter’ note is not noticeable for me on first wearing.
You really can’t go wrong with this scent profile and I enjoyed sampling this, but it has been done hundreds of times. For €270 a bottle at launch, it’s a tough one to recommend.
