This is a special edition bottle containing Ilio (2021).
Ilio has become somewhat of a cult favorite since it’s release. While I absolutely enjoy this fragrance, I’m not 100% sure what the hype is about; I guess the ‘limited’ nature helps (Ilio was initially limited and has since been brought back every year with a special edition bottle).
What I get from the scent is a watery floral, but also some vanillic sweetness. I can picture the given notes, but at the same time, I was mostly reminded of mimosa and vanilla.
The prickly pear gives off a cucumber watery vibe, kind of like a soapy/shampoo-y aloe vera.
As mentioned, I definitely get a seaside vanilla in this, but whereas a lot of those types of fragrances go fully vanillic as they dry down, Ilio retains a lot of subtle, aquarel-greens and to my nose, a tiny hint of nuttiness (iris). It’s in the same vein, but fresher and less vanillic than a Guerlain Bosca Vanilla or Thomas de Monaco Sol Salgado. Perhaps closer are mimosa scents like Von Eusersdorff Classic Mimosa.
It’s lovely, delicate, sunny. A perfect light vanillic floral for Spring/Summer.
