‘When sailing across the crystal-clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Island of Elba appears in all its majestic beauty. During one of their explorations, Paolo and Tiziana were enraptured by the timeless atmosphere of this island, that holds within it so many legends, popular traditions and a precious, rare natural landscape.Of the many stories that the island’s inhabitants told them, one in particular struck a chord: the legend of Princess Alba and the Knight Sabino, two souls in love but destined to be separated by divine will. The Goddess Venus, the holder of their dreams, turned the island into their refuge, but as they did not pay homage to the goddess, she condemned their love to eternal torment. Still today, it is said that Alba’s call can be heard echoing among the Roman ruins of the Grotte di Portoferraio, a shout representing hope that never died, one that awakens the hearts of anyone who listens. Paolo Coelho wrote: “I have learnt that the world has a soul, and that whoever understands that soul can also understand the language of things”. These words embody the very spirit of Elba, where each path, each puff of wind, each fruit from the land has a profound, universal message to convey. Paolo and Tiziana wanted to capture the essence of this exceptional place and of its eternal love story, transforming it into a fragrance: Ilba. This fragrance pays homage to this land and to the legend surrounding it. It is an essence containing the sweetness of its fruit, the perfume of its flowers and the depth of its roots.
