When someone told me that Xerjoff would be releasing another iris-focused fragrance this year, I had to get my nose on it as soon as possible, given that Irisss has been in my top 10 of all time and ranks as my favorite Xerjoff. While Gibeon is indeed heavy on the iris, it’s a lot less Irisss and more… Fatal Charme… with just a drop of Amouage Guidance?
The opening did hit the mark instantly for me. A sensation of very chalky, dry powder; as if it could almost suffocate you as you spray it on. It has (throughout the entire) wear, an intersting mix of what I’d say is mostly a strongly traditionally feminine leaning scent profile (make-up bag, soft, balmy iris and vanilla) and a spicy and woody side, that also recalled XXY to me for a moment.
However, Gibeon quickly gets sweeter. It’s more like a slighlty nutty, vanilla ice cream and less if an earthy or carrot-like iris. Bordering on the direction of the marshmallowy Fatal Charme. What stands out most aside from that is a drop of very sweet, candied, rosewater. It reminded me of Guidance just a tiny bit for the middle hours of the wear. Perhaps, also like a much drier and sweeter version of the Newcleus scent profile.
In the latest stage of the wear, it settles back into a more woody, slightly spicy skin scent, losing that candied and rosy touch. I think if you read too much into my previous paragraph, you may expect something fully vanilla and rose, but in reality, it hovers somewhere in between that in a less tradtionally femme woodiness.
Overall, I really like Gibeon, but not as much as I initially thought when I started wearing it. Not my favorite Xerjoff of 2025 (which is Louis XV ROSE, followed by Torino25), but on par with some other solid ones (Sketchbook P.13,, P.70, Black Moonlight and I prefer it over P.18 & NeoRio).
