Frankincense? is that you? Not in the notes, but that’s what this fragrance strongly reminded me of. Very interesting release and it could be my third favorite Thomas De Monaco after (the original) RAW GOLD and Eau Coeur. After some more testing, I prefer Sol Salgado over Fuego Futuro, but at the time of writing the review below, I slightly prefered Fuego Futuro, so it’s close.
Smoky, sweet incense-like with a hint of aromatics at first. Spicy, with the sort of honeyed hay vibe. I noticed ThePerfumeGuy kept mentioning it being green and heavy on the sage, but my sample didn’t open all that green. I seem to perceive it much sweeter as he did (could also be because my sample has been sitting for a longer time). However, I will say that later in the wear, more of the herbal qualities kept pushing through. I had an almost reversed development from what you would expect from a fragrance; getting less sweet and more herbal the longer I had it on.
In the mid of the wear it reminded me a little bit of Marc-Antoine Barrois Encelade, which was my favorite part. The late drydown has more of a toned down, cedarwood with a hint of spices and aromatics.
