‘An exotic and stimulating cocktail that leaves the vibrant mood of a party on the skin, the unbridled fun of endless aperitivos with friends. It is the fragrance of fun-filled and unforgettable evenings, the ones you wish would never end. Cocktail Maracuja is a magnetic and energizing experience, which comes to life from an ideal blend of sensual essences and rich fruit, with a genuine and luscious flavour that is balanced and joyful, never predictable and very refined. Beyond fruity.’ – New Notes
Here’s quite an attention grabbing release, so I won’t hold you any longer. How is it?
Well, it’s fruity. And it’s very sweet. But also surprisingly spicy, in a soft way.
It essentially goes through several mini-phases in just the first minutes. First hitting me with a blast of sweetness, before showing me a candied and sour gummyworm fruitiness, before revealing it’s spiciness.
Those facets mingle throughout the first hours and I don’t love them equally. I really like the fruitiness here. It’s slightly tropical, bright. Mostly ‘orange’ in color to me, although it’s hard to say what exact scent stands out. There’s quite a tartness to it. I can definitely picture this element as a drink.
However, add the sweetness and you go into candy-land quickly. The sweetness is quite hefty and dense.
Most surprising to me perhaps are the spices. Sprinkled over this sweet and fruity concotion, you’ll find a noticeable spice, especially cinnamon. It adds warmth in a nice way. It really stands out on my skin (as opposed to the listed florals).
To me, Cocktail Maracuja smells most similar to Tiziana Terenzi Tuttle, or perhaps even Orza (I don’t know it well enough to be sure) with it’s more lactonic touch. The New Notes has even more prominent sweetness from the first moment.
As it dries down further, the fruitiness becomes more of a sharper, ginger-esque vibe with an amber woody base. This adds performance and it stays rather bright, albeit it on the harsher side. The late drydown isn’t my favorite aspect of the wear here.
Overall, a good pick if you enjoy sweet, fruity fragrances with a tropical twist.
