‘A little dreamy, a bit impertinent and totally in love with a dizzying feeling of freedom. Rock’n Roll baby! “Is everybody in? The Ceremony is about to begin!”* Jim Morrison’s words resonate and here we are draped in a ceremonial pschitt, in a heady bouquet, dark and wild. In this fascinating eau de parfum, the sweetness of pineapple, the bite of grapefruit and the mystery of patchouli meet and unite to perfection.’ – Anomalia
Straight from the first spray, I knew that Ceremonie was not my jam. It’s actually my least favorite Anomalia by far and definitely the one alongside Aquatic Ozonic that I simply do not like.
Leather is clearly present from the first moment and it’s pretty much as the note breakdown says. Grapefruity, but more so a ripe pineapple. Slightly burnt overall feeling. Think about the pineapple from Gallivant Los Angeles, but burnt and on a piece of leather.
The good news is that, no, this does not smell anything remotely like Aventus, in case that came to mind based on the notes. This is a heavy, smoky fruity leather. I don’t even get much of the actual fruit scent, it’s like the essence of what used to be fruit, turned into ashes.
I’m probably a bit biased, because this specific type of leather is really not up my alley and it makes it hard for me to seek the other facets of the composition as its so overpowering. It’s kind of harsh and unnatural to me.
A fragrance that comes to mind the most is Floraiku Between Two Trees, but Ceromonie is significantly darker.
