‘Fugazzi’s Cash Flower Extrait de Parfum is a fragrance creation based on the rose, which is also nicknamed ‘money flower’. The rose is harvested at sunrise, when the fragrance is at its best, and is also used as a graceful opening of the perfume. Light, sweet rose petals of the ripe blossom come together with the accents of cashmere for a soft touch. The aromas of pepper give a subtle dose of excitement and balance the timeless warmth of amber crystals. Resting on a bed of musk and sandalwood, the perfume acquires a mysterious base.‘ – Skins Cosmetics (translated)
With NoCologne and now this its successor, Cash Flower, I think Fugazzi have stepped their game up, as the two are probably my two favorites from the brand so far.
Cash Flower reminds me a lot of one of the fragrances that I loved early on in my fragrance journey, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out which. This is a very sweet, woody rose.
It opens earthy and you get that muddy cashmeran vibe from it, but the sweetness takes over. It has a brown sugar or even burnt sugar type of sweetness, with a smoky edge.
A peppery and quite fruity rose is at its core, but it’s definitely more of a sweet ambery overall experience. It has cues of a Montale Intense Cafe (which may be the connection to my early fragrance loves), but texture wise Cash Flower feels more dry. It’s more earthy, spicy and woody. There’s a forest lurking in the background, grounding this scent and keeping it from getting cloying.
Maybe it’s the nostalgia, but as of now, this is likely my favorite Fugazzi.
