Earlier this year I sampled Beso Pasion and was pleasantly surprised. Surprised by the scent, but also surprised that this fragrance hasn’t gained that much traction in the fragrance community yet. Why?

To me Beso Pasion is a mix of two great fragrances. The ever-popular Essential Parfums Bois Imperial and a hint of its fig-companion Fig Infusion. It’s made by Jordi Hernandez and can hang with the best fresh scents he made for Carner or Ex Nihilo.

Beso Pasion opens sharper. Tart or even bitter ginger cuts through. It’s quite green, but in a citrussy, soapy manner.

It starts to mellow out with a still green, but also milky fig. It’s quite refreshing and it remains so in the first hours.

The backbone is that of a soapy vetiver and (akigala)wood with a tinge of sweetness. Very Bois Imperial-esque, but perhaps less sweet and more crisp of a wear. Also, less demanding of a wear in my opinion. For me, vetiver is the key ingredient here. It leans into the effervescent Grey Vetiver style, but packs a bit more of a punch.

Extremely versatile, unisex (I think men especially will gravitate towards it, but I feel its more unisex than Bois Imperial) and well performing. If you want to smell fresh and vibrant, this would work just as well at the beach, as in an office setting.
