A*Men is a familiar scent, although I’d never tried it myself before writing my initial review. The DNA must have been copied often and it’s been a popular scent for decades now. And for good reason, although it won’t be in my collection and it’s not really a fragrance that I get comfortable with.
To my nose, the sweetness is too much. It’s mainly a chocolate scent, but not a powdery, lifelike chocolate, rather a syrupy dark chocolate sauce. A bergamot and mint brings some welcome, but quite unexpected contrast to the sweetness.
I went a bit light on my first wear, which I preferred smell wise, but it fades too quickly. For the second time I sprayed some extra, resulting in a harsh sweet opening, almost going into liquorice territory. I wish the coffee note was stronger, but I know Mugler has better options in their line-up for that purpose.
A*Men is not something I’d wear myself, but it’s an appealing fragrance.
