ABOUT, ScentAdvice
Welcome

I’m BB (@BrainFragrances). I began my fragrance journey in the Spring of 2019 and I’ve shared my experiences on a daily-basis since. This website launched in the Summer of 2022 as a personal blog and it changed into its current format in March 2023. In March 2024 the name changed to ScentAdvice.

Concept

ScentAdvice is the #1 place for information on the latest and upcoming fragrance releases.

Aside from news, you can read almost 2000 reviews written by me. I try to get my nose on many new or popular releases in a timely manner, to provide a fully objective take on them.

There is a growing database of 32.000 fragrances from over 1000 brands. Lists, articles, shop, sales, Beauty Section & more have been added to the menu for an all-round experience.

ScentAdvice may link to external stores, but it is not a store.

MONETIZATION & ADS

There will never be random, moving or pop-up ads on the site or app. Instead, there is at most 1 top banner and 1 ‘Shop This Brand’/’Buy It Here’ banner on each listing; both are hand-picked, relevant and matching in look-and-feel to be relatively unobtrusive. Occasionally, a sale is highlighted via a post on the homepage. This will usually benefit ScentAdvice through potential commission, but this too is hand-picked at all times. There are no paid-for ads or highlights for brands or stores.

Running ScentAdvice does cost time and resources however. The way for you to support ScentAdvice is by using the links and banners on the site as stepping stone for your regular shopping or structural purchases. Shopping at SephoraHarrodsUltaSelfridgesNeiman MarcusBergdorf GoodmanCultBeautyNotinoDouglasIciParisNocibeAmazon, FragranceNetFragranceXHarvey NicholsJomaShopLookFantasticMacy’s for example, may earn ScentAdvice a commission. You can find more in the Shop and Sales pages, as well as in the Best Deals of The Week post that gets frequently updated.

The commissions ensure the maintenance and growth of the site. They also make it feasible for new and high-end fragrances to be reviewed fully objectively, free of PR ties and perceived codependency that influencers knowingly or unknowingly experience.

App

You can download the ScentAdvice app for Android or for IOS (APPLE). The app has the same functionality as the mobile site, but it’s easier to access from your phone’s home screen or app drawer. Give it a try!

Navigation

Use the SEARCH bar to quickly look up a fragrance or brand.

Use the BRANDS page to navigate to a brand for an alphabetized list of all their fragrances.

Use the REVIEWS page for the latest added reviews.
Site-wide, fragrances marked with🔺have been reviewed.

Use the HIGHLIGHTS page for a selection of (popular) new releases. For a more complete overview of everything new, including lesser known brands, use the NEW RELEASES page.

The ScentAdvice logo in the header can be used to navigate back to the homepage. In the app, if your phone has swipe gestures enabled, you’re able to swipe from the edge of your screen to go back to the previous page, as you would on any web page.

Disclosure

Use the reviews and information as a means of exploration. Every fragrance reviewed has been worn on skin at least once, sometimes sampled alongside another fragrance. Readers are invited to share their own thoughts in the comments. If possible, always sample fragrances on your own skin. None of the reviews are meant as a sales pitch and my opinion is just that: an opinion.

If a fragrance was gifted to me by a brand, distributor or store, it’s always indicated with an ‘AD’ sticker in the Review header, right above the review. Regardless, the content is never dictated, pre-approved or changed by a brand.

ScentAdvice is not affiliated to any of the stores that are being linked to and ScentAdvice can not be held responsible for any dealings with third-parties.

Any information shared on ScentAdvice is subject to mistakes and changes.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)

ScentAdvice never uses AI or any form or automation to create its dedicated content, writing reviews or photography. Some form of integrated AI (Photoshop) may be used in creating visuals used on the website, but never in (aiding) the writing or claimed as photography. Note that AI content may be copied over when quoting brands or stores.

Code of Ethics

In addition to the statements about disclosure and AI above, I am a pledger to the Perfumery Code Of Ethics. The code is an initiative by perfumer Christophe Laudamiel.

You can register an account. This enables you to stay logged in and post comments under your own name. In the PROFILE tab in the menu, you can change your username and profile photo. More functionality will be added in the future.

ScentAdvice does not leak information to the internet, but shares information found through online sources. In case a brand or representative entity wants a listing removed from the database, please directly mail admin@scentadvice. There will be a response as soon as possible and at latest within 24 hours.

ScentAdvice may use externally sourced thumbnails. This is done manually; content is never scraped from other websites. No bots, automation or artificial intelligence are used in the making of ScentAdvice or its content. Copyright holders can use the contact options below to request removal of an image.
