‘Thai Local Spirits x SIAM1928.’ – Siam1928

The award for most unique sample I’ve tried in 2024 at the time of writing goes to… Yodbeer.

In my first day of testing Siam1928 fragrances, I stuck to some more conventional scents and wanted to add something out of left field and Yodbeer was perfect for that. With notes of hop, malt, sun-dried banana and chocolate, I knew this would not be a generic scent and it delivered.

It’s really quite fruity straight away. Orange, banana both seem fitting for sure; reminding me of a slightly acidic banana ice cream or pudding. More citrussy than I was expecting, but I think it helps to make this unconventional scent easier to wear.

What I get more than caramel or chocolate here, is liquorice. There’s are actually a Dutch candy called Apekoppen, which is a soft gummy with banana and sweet liquorice. That is almost exactly the vibe I get from Yodbeer. The booziness is understated for me.

Is this something that I want to smell like through perfume… to be honest, not really or at least, not often. But is it fun to sample and rather pleasant to smell? Absolutely. I kept smelling my arm, because this has a strangely attractive quality.
