Ylop is definitely one of my favorites from SORA DORA so far. It combines some of the sweet apple gourmand notes from the (too sweet for my taste) Jany and adds a darker tea and leathery side.
You get a sweet, almost honeyed apple and some other fruits. Roasted apricot is listed and there’s the same vibe from the osmanthus. I feel like the almond sweetness is more prominent than vanilla here and it’s prominent, but not overdone.
Instead, the leathery facets of osmanthus come through in a semi-fresh, herbal way to create a lot of balance and a more complex overall impression than I experienced with Jany. This is a leathery scent that non-leather-lovers could likely wear happily. It’s also not too loud or harsh, which can be the case for me with this style of fragrance.
