This fragrance turns out completely different from what you may expect from it. Do I like it though… I’m not sure.

Straight from the first moments this is a fruity fragrance. Notes listed are blackcurrant, lemon & plum as far as fruitiness goes. To my nose, it’s simultaneously fruity and sweet, and rather thick. This is not a fresh citrussy opening, but a pulpy kiwi comes to mind. Instantly flanked by vanilla, but the combination makes it unlike any vanilla fragrance that I would’ve predicted this collaboration between Bibbi & Skins to be like. I’m mostly reminded of fragrances in the realm of YSL Tuxedo when I smell this opening, which I always found surprisingly fruity. Perhaps the two share a similar patchouli too.

After a while, x Vanilla goes… vanilla. A slightly less wet, powerful vanillic base comes through, with a hint of the opening remaining next to it in the first hours. It grows closer to what I would anticipate, but it still has a fruity and green-ish edge to it.

The combination gets better as it dries, but doesn’t 100% work for my taste. I’m happy it’s something out of the ordinary and not yet another straight-forward gourmand in 2024, but that’s about as positive as it gets for Bibbi x Skins x Vanilla in my book. I can see others liking it more though; it’s worth a try.
