Wood Whisper is all about a sweet, almost tingling woodiness. It’s a sandalwood base with a lot of vanilla, but the way it comes through is interesting. The sweetness is deceivingly strong in the way it is with a Baccarat Rouge 540 and I’ve noticed this effect in multiple Ojar offerings, even though this one doesn’t remotely resemble that scent overall. Perhaps the use of ambergris and musks creates this sort of relentless push of sweet sillage.

It’s not cloying, as there is a certain maturity to Wood Whisper. Up top you get rose and plum, both not distinctively vivid to my nose, but more so creating a soft jammy layer in a red or purple hue. Underneath that the woods are dry; a suede like texture and more calming woods give the right amount of balance to the sweetness.

As mentioned, I’d tried the Absolute (€140/20ml) before and I will not make a full distinction between that and the Eau de Parfum (€50/15ml), which I’m wearing today. In general I liked the absolutes and their presentation (come with both a dab stick and a roller) better, but this Eau de Parfum is equally good.

I will say that the Body Mist Oil (€65/100ml) was a revelation for me. I’d never tried those before this one and I think this one is amazing. They use prickly pear (cactus) oil and cactus water to create a slightly brighter and lighter version that wears really smooth. As I found some of the Ojar on the overwhelming side, I will definitely look into more of the Body Mist Oils from the brand moving forward.
