This review is for the beautiful 20ml Absolute Oil that comes with a roll-on and glass stick for the absolute, but there is also a (cheaper) spray perfume travelspray and a newer EDP spray. I gave most of the brand’s collection a quick sniff in the store and Wasp Waist was their standout release for me on first impression.
Wasp Waist is kind of like a traditionally feminine leaning fruity scent, but with a daring edge. Not daring as in very animalic or dark, but it has this pungent, musky bodily heat energy to my nose, making it quite mature for how fruity it is.
I believe this is the second time I’ve enjoyed strawberry in a composition (the other time being Centauri’s Proxima). Aside from strawberry, you have mandarin, honeysuckle, rose and magnolia listed; so you can imagine a bright, juicy fruity and floral scent, that will work in warm weather very well. Davana adds a herbal touch, creating an almost lemonade-like concoction.
To be honest; reading my description above, I wouldn’t get excited for it, but Wasp Waist has so much depth. The honey makes it sweeter, but also warmer. There’s a sandalwood base, but as I mentioned, to my nose there’s a muskiness as well. It’s not a light scent; some wafts I get a (plastic) suede-like quality and some wafts I get dry coconut shavings, which keeps coming back to me.
From the moment I tried Wasp Waist I thought it had an addictive quality. The fruitiness is not something I often go for in perfumes, but this one really works for me.
