Straight away, Voyage A Paris is quite different from what I expected. Not in a bad way though. This is not (just) the fluffy, feminine-leaning floral that I had in mind. Instead, this has a very sweet, but also slightly earthy mix. It does veer into a designer-ish territory eventually for me, but it’s very nicely executed here.
Voyage a Paris has that marshmallowy sweet mixed with soft floral (orange blossom) that smells familiar, but this is not in the style of a Kilian Love Don’t Be Shy or Parfums de Marly Oriana. I’m surprised to not find patchouli or cashmeran in the note breakdown, but I get an earthy vibe for sure.
As usual, I’m bad at picking up on the boozy note, but I do get a slight medicinal tinge. That being said, this is more than anything, a sweet fragrance. It has a tart, floral facet that won’t let up, but the sweetness is quite dominant. After several hours there’s a burnt sugary sweetness that prevails and the overall longevity on my first wearing was impressive. The next morning my wrist still smelled clearly of this sweet concoction that at this stage reminded me a of Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir actually; this is 12 hours after applying it.
Overall a solid release on first impression. Not as nice as Lovers for me, but on par or better than any of the other recent ones from the house (probably on par with Secret Tryst for me). A tad too sweet at times and I hoped for more florals, but not too shabby.
