Voyage 2019 was released exclusively on Hiram Green’s website. 280 numbered bottled were released and it sold out in 2021.
Voyage 2019 followed up a small batch release of Voyage in 2015 and is in my humble opinion, the star of Hiram’s line-up.
Voyage represents one of the most unique and far away removed takes on vanilla in my eyes. There’s clear elements of Slowdive‘s DNA and even a hint of Hyde‘s drydown to be found here, but especially the opening hours differ dramatically. Voyage is not a gourmand, despite having an almost custard-like heart, with a lovely syrupy vanilla and a tropical tinge. I’ve never smelled lotus flower on it’s own, but it seems to add a ylang-ylang-esque tinge to Voyage’s mid-section.
The opening however, reminds me of a herbal and honeyed tea. A tinge of Slowdive’s honey finds it’s way in a slightly green, subtle, mature tea scent. Maybe there’s a drop of eucalyptus, some spices… I’m note sure, but it can mislead you if you’re expecting to smell a vanilla fragrance at first. For me it was more of a melancholic, introspective or meditative fragrance experience, which I only wore on special occasions.
Sidenote: It’s a great release though and I’m almost ashamed to say that I’ve sold my bottle; it’s probably one of the few regrets regards to getting rid of fragrances that I have, especially with it being sold out. You live and you learn.
