‘Velvet Tonka Extrait draws its roots from two horizons that have shaped David Benedek’s universe: Morocco, radiant and artisanal, and Paris, urban and creative. A meeting point where warm hues, deep reds and sun-burnt golds, encounter the raw, vibrant elegance of the City of Light. From this dialogue emerges a singular glow, an enveloping warmth that the golden bottle captures like a precious shimmer. Velvet Tonka Extrait extends and reinterprets the spirit of the original fragrance. Denser and more assertive, this interpretation explores ambery and leathery facets that intensify its character. Heritage is carried forward into a new vision, where tradition and modernity engage in a bold, contemporary dialogue. At the heart of the composition, tonka bean stands as the founding material. Paired with roasted pistachio, it unveils a gourmand, addictive, almost tactile quality, reminiscent of caramelised Moroccan pastries. In contrast, saffiano leather, dark and textured, brings a Parisian verticality: a raw, deep breath that anchors the fragrance in urban energy. ‘In 2021, I created Velvet Tonka as a gourmand, airy, and luminous note. Today, Velvet Tonka Extrait is the bold hyperbole of the eau de parfum, a desire to go even further. I wanted a fragrance that is more carnal, more textured, an elixir of indulgence without ever losing its sensuality. The bitter almond of Velvet Tonka’s “corn of gazelle” accord is now paired with a lightly salted roasted pistachio accord, creating a new, bolder form of addiction.’ – Alexandra Carlin
