January 31, 2026

MILESTONES
• January 2026 is the first 500.000+ views month for the website.
The growth has been steady for a while now, but I was happy to see it maintained, since I’ve started to ‘sacrifice’ views by redirecting Google Search & social media links to external stores more often.

@ScentAdvice Instagram crossed 29.000 followers.

@ScentAdvice Threads crossed 1000 followers.

• The first 500 people have signed up for the Newsletter.
There are over a 1000 registered users & 6000 app-users for ScentAdvice, but I’ve chosen to not link that list directly to invite for the newsletter as that could be viewed as intrusive and people should subscribe (and unsubscribe) more consciously.

NEWSLETTER
In the October 2023 update I mentioned that I was exploring to add a newsletter feature… and well, better late than never! Last weekend I sent out a test newsletter to the first subscribers and tomorrow the first official e-mail newsletter goes out. 500+ people have signed up already and you can join them by subscribing here. Subscribers will receive at most 1 newsletter per week. As a bonus, subscribers automatically have 10 entries to all future ScentAdvice giveaways.

As far as its contents: The first newsletter will be a simple, list-based update with the most popular new releases and newly available fragrances. I will work towards including more images or a better lay-out in the future. I’ll also look into geo-based subscriber lists, so that the available for purchase section is tailored to your region, based on the IP-address that you sign up with (with at least US, UK & EU visitors seeing a different version, as is the case with the Available Now page). Note that as of yet, I do not register your IP information. I may include some of the important updates about ScentAdvice in the newsletters, but will mainly stick to these updates for those.

BRANDS ADDED
Since the last update: E.L.F. Cosmetics, Bridgerton, Maison Louis Marie, Nos Republic, Maison Eau de Couture, Lana & Hadi Parfums, Jacques Bogart, Ouder, Caneza.

NOTABLE REVIEWS
Since the last update: Armani Power Of You, YSL Libre Berry Crush, Mugler Alien Pulp, Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Elixir, Rabanne Fame In Love.

UPCOMING REVIEWS
I have a lot of samples/reviews on their way: Kilian Her Majesty, Valentino Born In Roma Donna Purple Melancholia, Stephane Humbert Lucas The Queen And The Viper, Armany My Way Sunny Vanilla, Dolce&Gabbana The One For Women EDP Intense & The One For Men Parfum, Narciso Rodriguez Pure Musc Blanc, Carolina Herrera Good Girl Jasmine Absolute, Burberry Her Parfum, Lancome La Nuit Tresor Rouge Drama, Givenchy Irresistible Nectar, Christian Provenzano Guanabana, Jeroboam Your Oudhness, Comme Des Garcons Vaquera Classique Perdu.

LAYOUT
Minor changes in the layout, following the shift in focus towards the availability & direct links to purchase new releases, as addressed in last month’s update.

The highlighted AVAILABLE NOW fragrances have a bit more real estate on the homepage. Instead of a separate insert, they now have the same look and prominence as the highlights, new releases & reviews.

On the flipside, I completely removed the Discounts banner that led to the SHOP page from the top of the homepage, so that you get a less obstructed first view. I will consider and experiment with removing this banner from other pages as well.

I’ve replaced the SALES highlights at the bottom of individual fragrance posts with the AVAILABLE NOW highlights. I’ll test which works best. Personally, I find sales to be more interesting and broader in scope, but the available new releases seem to generate more revenue.

Sign up for the newsletter directly at the bottom of the homepage.

The homepage title & mobile menu say ALL NEW RELEASES (versus just NEW RELEASES) to make that more clear.

The BRANDS page A-Z shortcuts match the look of the site more.

2025 AWARDS
The Best Of 2025 Awards were posted last month. Highlighting 30 of the best new releases, as well as 20 of my favorite discoveries during 2025 that were released earlier.

TOP 50
I’d planned to do this in January, but in February, I will revise my top 50. This list is a ranking of the fragrances that I have at least a travel size of in my personal collection. You can read the previous rankings here: April 2025, April 2024, July 2023.
