‘Mythology tells the story of Phyllis’s lost love for Démophon, who left, forever, far from his beloved. Faced with the sorrow of this lost love, the gods decided to transform Phyllis into an almond tree. Démophon, learning of his lover’s fate, returned and embraced the tree so fiercely that it immediately burst into bloom.
