Tyrenum is a style that I rarely seek out (described among other things as salty and marine-like). One of the advantages of collaborations is you can explore different styles more freely and I have to say, Tyrenum threw me for a loop a bit.
Yes, it is a salty, aquatic (more so sea breeze than water) fragrance, but that’s only half the story. Straight from the opening I get a lot of different sensations; quite prominent is an Ani-esque vanilla, but there is also a green aromatic tinge and for a moment a hint of liquorice or anise.
That liquorice dissipates instantly, but it’s clear that the ambery, vanilla mixed with the more spicy green vibe persist next to the sea breeze for the entire wear. Initially, as almost clashing, contradicting parts, but ending up as one genre-bending mix.
Tyrenum does remain on the fresher side, but the citrusses are very understated and it has a warmer spiciness more and more as it dries. A sweet Summer scent perhaps. Yet it’s also sweet, spicy and strong performing enough to be worn in any season or situation perfectly fine. Big plus on versatility.
Tyrenum is not a fragrance that I would blindly buy and I’m not sure how I would’ve rated it if I smelled it briefly in-store, but I enjoy it a lot more than the sum of its parts would suggest for my taste. This is a relatively new release and I can absolutely see it getting quite some love as more people discover it. It’s a nice option in this genre, that could still be interesting if marine is not your cup of tea.
