This Is Her! Burning Love sounds pretty great on paper, but on skin, it’s not really delivering. Whereas Zadig EDP (which shares some similarities) was a bit of a letdown, due to my hopes, but not a bad perfume. This Is Her! Burning Love is a bit of letdown, period.
This fragrance is much cleaner and fresher than the notes and description let on. In the brand’s description, there is a mention of ‘freshness and warmth combine’, but the emphasis seems to be on warm, creamy, toasty, gourmand, bold. None of those things ring true for me.
While there is definitely a nutty and milky aspect to this fragrance, it’s not in a gourmand sense. This smells like those strangely sweet, yet white musky laundry detergents. Milky, earthy, but clean and fresh at the same time. At its most ‘warm and sweet’, this fragrance reminds me of coconut body lotions and hand soaps, with a semi-sweetness and soapiness… reminiscent of sweet nuttiness, but you wouldn’t be tempted to eat it. That particular laundry detergent connection is most prominent for me though; I’m unsure what exact product, but it brings back memories to a specific laundry detergent that either I or my parents used; it’s almost nostalgic. Mind you, that it smells of the detergent, not of the clothes washed with it.
That’s a long way of saying… this is okay, but rather misleading. It’s like milk, watered down with… water. Like a regular handsoap or lotion which uses nut milks for texture, not ones meant to evoke the gourmand aspect. It’s an inoffensive, subtle, and frankly, bland release in my book. The marketing seems off(or, genius, depending on how you look at it, because I’m have a feeling it’s going to disappoint quite a few buyers); even the name, the colors of the bottle… seems like a complete mismatch with the scent presented here.
