The Stylist has a super interesting note breakdown, but might be more subtle than one would expect.
There’s a fruitiness in the opening, with mango and bitter orange, but as with most aspects of the fragrance, it’s understated and well-blended. What the fruits and the booziness in this fragrance do to me, is creating a tropical tinge, almost like a darker, masculine alternative to white florals. Quite quickly however, the woodiness, incense and tobacco become most prominent to my nose.
It’s not a warm, cozy, sweet scent for the style, but rather cool, modern, a bit industrial maybe even. It has booze and tobacco, but I could easily wear this to a work meeting. I’d say at this stage the woods (palo santo, cedar) define the scent more than the other ingredients. In the drydown, there’s more of the sweetness with vanilla coming through, but it’s all measured.
I love the opening, but that fades quickly. The drydown is pleasant, maybe a bit safe. Which does mean it’s versatile and I think most people will enjoy it a lot.
