In my opinion, the Fragrantica listing for Tableau Parisien is quite misleading; having it listed as ‘fresh spicy, aromatic, green, herbal and citrus’. Instead, I’d argue this is a full on, much darker and spiced sweet tuberose fragrance.
I love the tuberose-tobacco with some sweetness combination as it is found in Xerjoff Lunosa and Bortnikoff Sir Winston. In the case of Tableau Parisien, it’s definitely a fresher, brighter take, with the clean powder of heliotrope playing a more prominent role.
That being said, you get a nice dose of tuberose, which isn’t quite indolic, but also not overly playful. Together with the rose I get an almost oily, syrupy floral throughout the entire wear. The sweetness from the opening seems to be coming more so from the heliotrope and tonka than from a vanillic or amber accord. Meanwhile the citrus adds a brightness, but it isn’t nearly as bright or green as I would’ve thought based on the top notes.
The florals are the star of the show here as they feel very high quality and give great balance to the sweetness. I get more spices than tobacco for sure; reminding me more of Buterbaugh 1947 Dahlia than the aforementioned Xerjoff or Bortnikoff.
Tableau Parisienne is a wishlist fragrance for me personally and it’s a great first impression for the brand.
